Maria has twenty years experience in the classroom. She is secondary trained and spent many years working in main stream school as both a Music and SEN teacher. She spent her latter years working with children who have social, emotional and mental health problems. Maria uses music to engage and encourage children in the classroom and the wider school, developing social skills and resilience. She works on an emotional level to encourage academia and creativity.
Maria is also a person-centred counsellor, who works in private practice and also in schools. She believes in the power of working with parents to enhance the home lives of children.
Maria is a working musician and songwriter and is currently playing in bands and recording music. She offers mental health/well-being workshops via GIG THERAPY https://www.createlearninspire.co.uk/bandwagon/with our other crew member Kim Rooke.
